Rainy Day Routine

There is something magical about rainy days.

Maybe it is the slower pace. Maybe it is the sound of rain against the windows. Maybe it is the feeling that the world is giving us permission to stay still for a little while.

Whatever the reason, rainy days have become some of my favorite days.

When I wake up and see gray skies outside, I immediately lean into the atmosphere.

The first thing I do is make coffee.

Not rushed coffee. Not coffee in a travel mug while running out the door.

The kind of coffee that is poured into a favorite mug and enjoyed slowly while looking out the window.

Next comes reading.

Rainy weather seems to make books feel even more immersive. I usually grab whatever novel I am currently reading, wrap myself in a blanket, and spend at least a few chapters completely absorbed in another world.

Later in the morning, I usually spend some time journaling.

Rainy days naturally invite reflection. I find it easier to think deeply, process emotions, and reconnect with myself when everything outside feels quieter.

If time allows, I love baking something simple.

Muffins, banana bread, cookies, or even fresh bread can transform an ordinary afternoon into something memorable. The smell alone makes the house feel cozy and welcoming.

Throughout the day, classical music plays softly in the background.

Chopin, Debussy, and Satie are some of my favorites for rainy weather. Their music seems perfectly suited for gray skies and warm blankets.

if the rain becomes lighter later in the day, I enjoy taking a short walk outside. There is something refreshing about breathing cool air and listening to rain drip from trees.

By evening, candles are lit, books are stacked nearby, and the pace of life feels slower.

Rainy days remind me that rest can be productive too.

Sometimes the most meaningful thing we can do is simple be present.
